Prof. Dr. Klaus Aktories

He is a Full Professor and Director of Department 1 of the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany
 
His research interest focuses on the analysis of molecular mechanisms of bacterial protein toxins, which interfere with cell signaling and regulation of the cytoskeleton.

D´Annunzio

She is a researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (IBIMOL, UBA-CONICET) and the Institute of Cardiovascular Physiopathology, Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires.
 

Her research interest focuses on cardioprotection against myocardial infarction, particularly in animals models with comorbilidities such us hypercholesterolemia and aging..

Prof. Dr. Mónica Galleano

She is a Professor of Physical Chemistry for undergraduate students and Phytonutrients and Health for postgraduate courses at the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry, School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Universidad de Buenos Aires . She is an Independent Researcher of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) at the Institute of Molecular Biochemistry and Medicine (IBIMOL), UBA-CONICET.

 

Her research background is in redox biology. Her current projects are focused on the mechanisms of action of natural compounds on human health.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Christoph Borner

He is a Full Professor of the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research, the Director of the Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) and the Director of the International Master Program in Biomedical Sciences (IMBS) at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg.

His research interest focuses on the identification of the molecular mechanism of apoptosis in the context of viral and fungal infections and cancer development and therapy.

Prof. Dr. Claudio O. Fernandez 

He is a Full Professor and Director of the IIDEFAR-Max Planck for Structural Biology, Chemistry and Molecular Biophysics of Rosario (MPLbioR, UNR-CONICET-MPIbpC), Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina.  He is also the Director of the Bilateral PhD Program in Molecular Biosciences and Biomedicine, between the Universidad Nacional de Rosario and the Georg August University of Göttingen.
His research interest focuses in the study of intrinsically disordered proteins linked to misfolding diseases and neurodegenerative disorders. To pursue these goals his group developes a multidisciplinary approach that combines the use of genetic engineering and NMR-based structural biology techniques with biophysical tools and cell-based assays.

Dr. Luciana Hannibal

Dr. Hannibal is a Research Group Leader in the Department of Pediatrics, Medical Center, University of Freiburg, Germany.

Her group investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying inherited diseases of metabolism. Her research foci are rare diseases that impair cellular and mitochondrial utilization of cobalamin (vitamin B12) and heme.

Prof. Dr. Christian Höcht

He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacology at the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry.

 

His main research topics are pharmacokinetics and cardiovascular pharmacology.

Dr. Timoteo Marchini

Dr. Timoteo Marchini is a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (IBIMOL), School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

His major research interest relies on unraveling the biological mechanisms underlying the negative impact of air pollution on human health, in particular over cardiovascular diseases. His main efforts focus on studying the observed imbalance in oxygen metabolism and inflammation after the exposure to environmental particulate matter

Dr. Stella Maris Ranuncolo, MD, PhD

Dr.  Ranuncolo is a researcher at National Research Council (CONICET), Argentina and  at Instituto Universitario del Hospital Italiano (IUHI).

She is also a professor of Histology and Cell Biology at the School of Medicine, Universidad de Buenos Aires.

 

Dr. Ranuncolo focuses on the molecular biology of B cell lymphomas.

She is interested  in novel molecular-directed therapeutic targets.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Zirlik

Prof. Dr. Andreas Zirlik is Deputy Medical Director of the Department of Cardiology and Angiology I of the Heart Center of Freiburg University in Germany. He practices interventional cardiology and interventional hypertensiology and heads the heart failure and heart transplantation service. He is the next president of the German Atherosclerosis Society (DGAF).

 

His research interests focus on inflammatory mechanisms in atherogenesis and at the interface of cardiovascular, metabolic disease, and thrombosis.

Dr. Ricardo Kratje

He is a Senior Researcher of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and 
Professor of Cell Culture Technology, School of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences (FBCB), Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL) in Santa Fe City, Argentina.
He is also Vice Dean, Senior Counselor of the Teacher’s Staff Meeting, and Secretary of
Technological Liaison and Extension Activities (FBCB-UNL)

 

Dr. Kratje is interested in R&D applied to the development and production of biopharmaceuticals in animal cell culture. He leads the Cell Culture Laboratory (FBCB-UNL), which specializes in the development and technology transfer of biotechnological processes for the production of recombinant human glycoproteins for human health.

Prof. em. Dr. Drs. h.c. Roland Mertelsmann

Institute of Molecular Medicine and Cell Research - Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany

Until becoming Professor emeritus in 2014, he was the Chairman of the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at Freiburg University Medical Center.

 

His research continues to focus on clinical and experimental oncology, including IT modeling, simulation, and machine learning strategies to better understand carcinogenesis,normal and neoplastic hematopoiesis, and to develop novel therapeutic strategies.

Prof. Dr. Ralph Wäsch

University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany

He is Associate Professor, Attending Physician and Head of the Medical Cell Therapy and Research Section (Stem Cell Apheresis and Processing) in the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation, Albert-Ludwigs University Medical Center Freiburg, Germany.

His clinical interests are hematological diseases, solid cancers and stem cell transplantation. His research focus is cell cycle control by the ubiquitin-proteasome system in cancer and hematopoietic stem cells.
